Sri Lanka · legal practice software

Software for how Sri Lankan legal practice actually runs

Not a generic case manager with the country names swapped out. Two products built around the parts that actually cost you a date: a bench that wants a date now, a court that is not sitting, a colleague already listed in Gampaha at ten.

Nithi Desk Diary

Closed testing

One shared court diary for a set of chambers. A junior standing before a bench can check the senior’s availability, fix a date, log the next step, and have it reach the whole chamber before they sit down.

Senior counsel, associates, juniors and clerks work off the same diary across courts and districts. The value is one interaction, done properly: fixing a date at the bar table without double-booking anyone.

LexAI

Pilot

Practice management for a whole firm — matters, hearings, documents, billing and an assistant that drafts in English, Sinhala and Tamil.

Each firm gets its own address and its own database schema. Where the diary app covers the court day, LexAI covers the matter from instruction to invoice, with the court calendar and the deadlines built in rather than bolted on.

Multi‑tenant MFA Audit trail

Nithi Desk Diary

Fixing a date at the bar table, without the phone calls

A date is agreed in the seconds you are on your feet. Everything below exists so that the answer is already on the screen when the bench asks.

  • Load, before you commit

Every date in the picker carries the chamber’s commitments for that day: how many, how many of them are critical, whether anyone is already double-booked, and why the court is not sitting — weekend, gazetted holiday, or recess.

  • Peek, before you agree

See where every member already stands on a prospective date — court, district and session. Somebody with nothing listed is available, because the absence of a row is the answer.

  • Conflicts that account for travel, not just overlap

Two listings for one person are flagged when they share a session — and also when they sit in different districts closer together than counsel can travel. The buffer is yours to set: 45 minutes on the highway, 75 minutes local.

  • One transaction, not four

Logging a hearing marks it done, records the mandatory next step and the bench’s remarks, writes attendance, and creates the next listing with its previous date wired back — atomically. Two juniors fixing dates from different courthouses in the same minute cannot collide.

  • It reaches chambers before you sit down

Every other device in the chamber updates while counsel is still standing. Nobody has to be told, and nobody has to remember to tell them.

  • Works where the signal does not

A date fixed with no coverage is queued and replayed, with the pending count shown in the header. It tests whether the internet is actually reachable rather than whether the wifi connected — courthouse wifi that associates and routes nowhere would otherwise report itself online.

  • End of day, reconciled

One list of everything called today with no next date or no next step, so nothing is discovered a fortnight later.

  • Statutory deadlines, with their basis

The commonly applied filing windows, each shown with the provision it rests on. A scheduling aid — check it against the current statute before you file.

LexAI

The whole matter, from instruction to invoice

A firm’s practice management system, with the Prescription Ordinance, the court calendar and Sri Lankan drafting conventions treated as part of the product rather than as configuration.

  • Matters and clients

Case records under your own category hierarchy, each with its parties, its timeline and its documents. Clients kept once, not re-typed per matter.

  • Calendar and court diary

Write up the day’s hearings as they conclude. The next date you log is added to the firm calendar and shown as pending on the case timeline.

  • Documents

Uploads go straight from the browser to object storage with a pre-signed URL, so a scanned bundle does not travel through the application. PDFs and Word files preview in place.

  • An assistant that has read the file

Ask questions of one matter or across every matter you are permitted to see. Draft Sri Lankan instruments in English, Sinhala or Tamil. Summarise a case, a document or a hearing.

  • Tasks, reminders and notifications

Work assigned and tracked against the matter it belongs to, with reminders before the dates that matter.

  • Billing

Invoices raised against matters, and the firm’s own subscription in one place.

  • An audit trail you can hand over

Every action is recorded against the person who took it, and exports are cryptographically signed so a copy can be shown to be the copy that was produced.

  • One firm cannot see another

Each firm gets its own subdomain and its own database schema, selected from the signed session rather than from anything the browser sends. Accounts support multi-factor authentication.

Your data

What we do with what you type in

Both products hold matter titles, party names and hearing records — material that is frequently privileged. The short version is below; the privacy policy covers both products in full.

  • Names are masked before any AI model sees them

Every request LexAI makes to a language model passes through a redaction step first: names, identifiers and numbers are replaced with placeholders, and restored only in the answer, on our side. The map between the two never leaves the running process.

  • One chamber cannot read another

In the diary app, access is enforced by row-level security in the database rather than by the app being careful. The test suite asserts it on every run instead of assuming it.

  • No advertising, no profiling, nothing sold

Neither product carries analytics on your behaviour, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers. This page sets no cookies and loads nothing from anyone else’s server — including its typeface.

  • You can delete your account from inside the app

In the diary app it is one action under Profile, and it takes effect immediately. If you were the only member of a chamber, the chamber goes with you.
